Grand graphic design in an era when the term itself was still quite new--note the trembling manipulation of the heading font in the word Murder, the striking color images, many other fine touches.
Before there was Sherlock Holmes, before James Bond there was Honolulu Detective Charlie Chan. Beginning in 1931 with the first Chan film, “Charlie Chan Carries On”. The first Charlie Chan was actor Warner Oland, who made 15 films before his untimely death in 1938. Oland was replaced with Sidney Toler who made 22 Chan films before his death in 1947. Roland Winters would take over for Toler and go on to make six more Chan films for Monogram Studios.
*Note: We have listed Six of the original lobby cards from this desirable Chan classic. Along with about 100 Other vintage Charlie Chan lobby cards.
Personal Note: Two of my favorite Chan classic films were from 1940, "Murder Over New York" and "Wax Museum", and we just acquired an exciting Collection of several original vintage lobby cards from each, all listed here in our eBay store. *These Beauties would look Amazing in the right color matting and frame!

Sidney Toler made his eighth appearance as Charlie Chan in this film, as the witty detective's visit to the Big Apple leads to an investigation of sabotage on an aircraft plant assembly line. Also making an appearance is Shemp Howard of the Three Stooges. Great Vintage Graphics and Colors.
Starring Sidney Toler, Marjorie Weaver, Victor Sen Yung, Robert Lowery, Ricardo Cortez, Donald MacBride, Melville Cooper, Joan Valerie, Lal Chand Mehra, Shemp Howard, Jack 'Tiny' Lipson, and Clarence Muse. Directed by Harry Lachman.
We just acquired a Large Charlie Chan collection including about Ten complete sets. Each card has on the back two pieces of paper (easily removed as it has very light adhesive) identifying the specific lobby card and the Owner’s name and city. I have blocked out the names and city on the digital image only for privacy reasons. It’s pretty nice that they catalogued and identified each card.
