ORIGINAL Vintage THREE Sheet (41x81")
Starring John Wayne
Amazing UNUSED!
Imagine discovering a 65 year old vintage movie theater posters that was Never Used!
1960 - The great John Wayne epic, "The Alamo". This is the very rare and spectacular Larger then Life Giant THREE SHEET.
Condition: This beauty has Never been used. It is in the Original UN-Restored folded condition (all movie posters prior to 1980 were folded by the studios before shipping to theaters. Especially larger posters like one and three sheets).
Just has a 2-3" handling tear in right border which is not visible unless you turn the poster over. Has slight vintage age toning along fold lines from the back. *Authentic fold marks, a hallmark of 1950s/60s distribution.
Tri-folded. All large posters prior to 1980 were folded by the poster distribution service before mailing to movie theaters. Hence they were folded down to 11x14". However, Tri-folded means it was folded one or two less times and hence the folded/shipping size is about 11x28. This rare large flat size would only be for posters that were never used and never shipped to theaters, and hence like this vintage poster would survive in Mint-Near Mint Unused Condition. In my 40 years collecting I have only seen a few One or Three sheets Tri Folded
* Has the original coveted studio stamp on back that seasoned Collectors like to see as an added layer of authenticity.
* Comes in two sections as all three sheets.
Note: Alamo was released in theaters October 24, 1960. Hence, some of the movie larger posters like the three sheet were issued at the beginning of 1961 and have a copyright date of 1961 at bottom border.

The Alamo (United Artists, 1960). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
If you're a fan of the Duke, this dramatic one sheet with evocative artwork by Reynold Brown is a "must have." John Wayne had wanted to make a version of this epic moment in Texas' history since the 1940s, but it wasn't until 1960 that his opportunity finally came to fruition. Aside from Wayne himself, who plays Davy Crockett, the all-star cast includes Richard Widmark, Laurence Harvey, Frankie Avalon, and Chill Wills.
The 1960 John Wayne Texas Independence war cowboy western ("It took years to make...it cost $12,000,000 ...it will be remembered forever!"; "The mission that became a fortress... The fortress that became a shrine..."; "MAMMOTH thousands upon thousands in the cast!... 12 million dollars poured into its filming ...years in the making!") nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring John Wayne ("as Colonel David Crockett"), Richard Widmark ("as Colonel James Bowie"), Laurence Harvey ("as Colonel Wm. Barret Travis"), Frankie Avalon, Patrick Wayne, Richard Boone (billed as "Guest Star Richard Boone"), Linda Cristal, Joan O'Brien, and Chill Wills (in his nominated for Best Supporting Actor Academy Award role) and features Reynold Brown artwork.
